The Gamble feature (also known as Double or Nothing) is a classic slot mechanic that allows players to risk a recent win for a chance to increase its value. After a winning spin, players may enter a separate gamble screen where they must correctly guess an outcome — most commonly a card color, card suit, or card value. A correct guess increases the win, while an incorrect one results in losing the gambled amount.
The Gamble feature is an optional post-win mechanic available in many slot machines, especially classic slots and traditional video slots. Instead of immediately collecting a win, the player can choose to gamble it in a mini-game. Each successful gamble usually doubles the win, while a loss resets the gambled amount to zero.
Although variations exist, most gamble features follow the same basic rules:
Over time, slot providers have introduced several versions of the gamble mechanic:

In most regulated slots, the Gamble feature does not change the overall RTP of the game. It simply redistributes risk by allowing players to voluntarily increase variance. Mathematically, the gamble game is usually designed with a near 50/50 probability (minus a small house edge), meaning the expected value remains consistent with the base slot.
While the base RTP stays the same, using the gamble feature significantly increases volatility. Small wins can be turned into larger payouts, but repeated gambles greatly increase the chance of losing accumulated winnings. As a result, the gamble feature appeals mainly to risk-tolerant players.
